Fashion Re/Action: Symposium: Building Sustainable Fashion

THE FINAL EVENT of this year's FASHION RE/ACTION!! Rachel Shragis leads a quilting bee for the 21st century in this unique interdisciplinary event. While our guest speakers explore the question "How can we as consumers create a Sustainable Fashion System?", we'll be working together to create a quilted flowchart of the issues at hand.

Speakers include: Carolyn Priebe, founder and head designer for Uluru, a sustainable clothing line based in New York City; Pascale Gatzen, an artist, designer and professor of fashion design in Parsons' Integrated Design Program; Glenn Marla, performance artist and employee of Re/Dress Brooklyn; and Otto von Busch (aka Wronsov), founder of the brand and research project >Self_Passage<, an open-source project investigating empowerment through fashion hacktivism.

The event is FREE and open to the public. The talks begin promptly at 1pm with Q&A time after each speaker. Feel free to stay for the entire event or drop in for only part of it. Refreshments will be served.

Presented by Culture Push and JEM Fabric Warehouse, FASHION RE/ACTION is the 2nd annual series of FREE workshops and collaborative events to playfully re/design and re/imagine what can be done with discarded materials. More info: www.culturepush.org.
